About The Position

Manages and coordinates Body and Paint, Unit Repair, Mechanical and Automotive Repair work between the shop divisions, Transportation Department and the garages. Oversees materials management, implements quality standards, and sets quotas and priorities. Supervises assigned staff.

Requirements

Five (5) years related experience required.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsement P and air brakes required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Fleet Maintenance Operations, or related field preferred.
Experience working with and supervising employees under labor contracts preferred.

Responsibilities

Directs Shop Supervisors in the scheduling of work and setting quotas and priorities for shop divisions; fills in for supervisor as needed.
Fills in for the Garage Manager as needed.
Handles warranty and defective part disputes concerning material and parts required for bus repair.
Directs the preparation of annual budget request for new equipment and monthly and annual maintenance department operation report and monthly mileage reports.
Implements maintenance procedures for quality of work performed by shop personnel and make determination to send work to outside vendors.
Coordinates the repair and prioritizes maintenance and timely availability of vehicles and equipment within the divisions and garages to meet the operational requirement.
Inspects defective units and determine causes of failure to take steps to prevent future failures.
Ensures quality performance of fleet personnel.
Processes employee complaints and grievances by conducting timely and thorough investigations.
Handles all first step grievances.
Performs other duties as required.
