About The Position

The Garage Door Installer is responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial garage door systems. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Successful candidates must be able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to read work orders, installation instructions, and project documentation.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Construction industry experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of garage door installation and service experience preferred.
  • Experience with Overhead Door™ products is a plus but not required.
  • Welding and/or electrical experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites as assigned and assess customer installation and service needs.
  • Install, service, and repair garage doors, openers, and related components according to company standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the customer's satisfaction while maintaining quality workmanship and minimizing warranty issues.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, product upgrades, and additional sales.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of company products, services, pricing, parts, and installation procedures.
  • Recommend and sell replacement products, accessories, and repair parts when appropriate.
  • Continuously improve mechanical skills and stay current on installation techniques, safety requirements, and product updates.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure job sites are clean and free of debris upon project completion.
  • Accurately complete and submit work orders, job tickets, time sheets, and related documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collect customer payments (CODs) when required and notify management of any payment issues or scope changes.
  • Maintain truck inventory and possess a working knowledge of parts, part numbers, and product descriptions.
  • Keep company vehicles, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
  • Follow all driving safety regulations and job site safety procedures.
  • Know the location of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and comply with all company safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business and customer needs.
