About The Position

The Gallery Department Staff member leads and promotes a customer-friendly store atmosphere by providing exceptional customer assistance. The role applies knowledge of housewares, toys, and jewelry to buying, processing, and selling merchandise while continually using positive, customer-focused strategies. Staff price, sort, stock, and merchandise all areas of the department, and work at the Incoming Merchandise/Trade counter to buy and price merchandise.

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 32 hours per week and five shifts per week. Open availability is required for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday; the schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and mid-shifts.

Requirements

• Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills, including patience, kindness, problem-solving, and the ability to work with diverse communities and customer needs.
• Professional telephone skills.
• Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, mid-shifts, and weekends.
• Diverse product knowledge of housewares, toys, and jewelry.
• Understanding of Bookmans' pricing, trading, and discount systems.
• Motivation to learn how to buy, process, and sell Gallery Merchandise.
• General knowledge of products sold at Bookmans.
• Knowledge of store sections and layout.
• Ability to work independently with guidance and direction from the Gallery Department Supervisor/Lead and Store Management.
• Ability to use reference materials.
• Ability to conduct oneself in a civil, professional, and respectful manner at work.
• Open availability to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
• Ability to work five shifts per week.
