About The Position

The G2 Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of propane systems and appliances for residential, commercial, and agricultural customers. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to regulatory compliance, and a customer‑focused mindset. The position is suited to an entry‑ to intermediate‑level G2 technician who is capable of working both independently and alongside a Lead Technician, and who is willing to mentor junior technicians (G3/apprentices) as part of team development. The G2 Service Technician participates in mandatory on‑call rotation and supports dispatch and service administration through Primemax’s VE software platform.

Requirements

  • Valid G2 LP Gas Technician License (must be maintained).
  • Valid Class G or DZ driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Solid working knowledge of TSSA regulations, codes, and compliance standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, dispatch, and internal teams.
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory on‑call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies.
  • Physically capable of performing field‑based work, including lifting and moving heavy equipment.
  • Proficient with handheld devices, tablets, and service software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in propane service, installation, and repair is an asset.
  • Experience with vaporizers, tank manifolds, and commercial propane systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install propane tanks and related systems, including tank manifolds and vaporizers, for residential, commercial, and agricultural applications.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on propane appliances and systems up to 400,000 BTUs, including gas piping, tubing, regulators, and associated components.
  • Conduct appliance start‑ups, commissioning, and safety inspections in accordance with TSSA regulations and Primemax standards.
  • Perform 5‑year safety inspections, gas checks, cylinder exchanges, and dispenser inspections.
  • Troubleshoot propane system issues and complete repairs, ensuring full regulatory compliance and safe operation.
  • Assist with and support complex installations and diagnostics alongside the Lead Service Technician.
  • Operate service vehicles, tank movers, and specialized tools safely and efficiently.
  • Respond professionally to customer service calls, diagnosing and resolving propane‑related issues in the field.
  • Clearly explain work performed, safety considerations, and system operation to customers.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and escalate issues when required to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide service dispatch support as required.
  • Complete service work orders, inspections, and documentation using tablet‑based VE software.
  • Accurately record labour, parts & materials, compliance checks, and follow‑up requirements.
  • Maintain service truck inventory, ensuring adequate parts, tools, and safety equipment are available.
  • Maintain full compliance with TSSA regulations, Primemax safety procedures, and internal policies.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and internal safety reporting as required.
  • Support emergency response activities during on‑call rotations, adhering to defined response expectations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Support and mentor G3 technicians and apprentices, reinforcing best practices and safe work procedures.
  • Share technical knowledge and field experience with the service team.
  • Participate in training and professional development with a pathway toward G1 certification and leadership roles.
