About The Position

The Strong delivers engaging programs for all ages that highlight the power and importance of play. The G2 site coordinator and camp educator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of school-based play programs (September–June) and museum camps (summer and as needed). This role leads site-based program operations, facilitates child-centered, hands-on experiences for K–2 students, and supports volunteer engagement and development. This position requires strong organization, a passion for child-directed play and social-emotional learning, and the ability to build positive relationships with children, volunteers, and school partners. The coordinator may oversee up to 10 weekly play sessions at consistent times and locations and contributes to broader public programs as needed. The incumbent must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and exploration at every age. Requirements

  • Some college coursework required
  • Experience working with children and/or volunteers, ideally in an educational or youth program setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across staff, volunteers, families, and school partners
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills
  • Collaborative team player with sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and professionalism in dynamic environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, high-quality guest and participant experiences
  • Experience with data tracking, recordkeeping, and basic program evaluation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general database systems
  • Flexibility to work weekdays and occasional weekends as needed
  • Must consent to and pass a drug screen and criminal background check as conditions of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and supervise weekly play sessions (October-May) at assigned school(s), ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students and volunteers.
  • Coordinate with school staff to confirm schedules, space, and logistics.
  • Set up and manage program materials; monitor inventory and request supplies as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with volunteers, school partners, and G2 staff; document key interactions.
  • Facilitate post-session reflections and review volunteer journals to monitor relationship development, provide feedback, and address concerns. Ensure that journals remain accessible to parents, teachers, and school administrators.
  • Support volunteer lifecycle activities, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing support.
  • Prepare for and host site visits from community stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate program records, including volunteer contact information, engagement, qualification, and other critical constituent data in the database tool (currently Bloomerang).
  • Substitute for other G2 site coordinators or volunteers as needed.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and trainings.
  • Comply with New York State mandated reporter requirements.
  • Attend and assist with in-service programs for assigned G2 site.
  • Support planning and facilitation of camp programs.
  • Support all site logistics for camps, including space reservations, setup, materials, and program execution.
  • Organize and maintain camper records and required documentation.
  • Follow established procedures for camp program development, delivery, and safety.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the G2 and camps manager, interacting regularly with other project contributors, partner organizations, and various internal teams.
  • Engage in ongoing reflection to improve program quality and share constructive feedback with the G2 and camps manager.
  • Collaborate across teams and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Participate in team and staff meetings, trainings, and assigned committees.
  • Support other public programs and projects as needed.
