FX Technician HD Tractor/Trailer
About The Position
The Tractor & Trailer Mechanic works in a shop environment servicing a fleet of Class 7–8 trucks and trailers, ranging from box trucks to semis. Work includes PM/BIT inspections and bumper-to-bumper repairs, excluding engine and transmission overhauls. The company is an established nationwide vehicle fleet company offering competitive industry wages. Compensation is hourly, not flat rate. Two positions are available, with a Monday–Friday morning or afternoon shift. Candidates are asked to reply for an initial 5–10-minute phone interview, followed by a local interview soon after.
Requirements
- Five years of recent shop work, or a combination of shop work and schooling or training.
- Experience with heavy-duty Class 7–8 diesel vehicles.
- Trailer repair experience.
- Brake repair skills.
- PM inspection skills.
- General repair skills.
- Charging-system skills.
- General transmission knowledge.
- Must have personal hand tools; the facility provides diagnostic, shop, and specialty tools.
- Clean background.
- Valid CDL.
Responsibilities
- Perform PM/BIT inspections.
- Complete bumper-to-bumper repairs on Class 7–8 trucks and trailers, excluding engine and transmission overhauls.
- Repair trailers and perform general repairs.
- Service brakes and charging systems.
- Apply general transmission knowledge.
