About The Position

Havertys Furniture is seeking a Furniture Repair and Refinish Technician who enjoys working with their hands to build or repair items. This role involves visiting customers' homes to repair various types of merchandise, including furniture, upholstery, cabinets, and leather goods, using specific methods and materials. The technician will also be responsible for evaluating repairs, representing the company professionally, creating on-site reports, and maintaining the company service van and tools. Training is provided for repair methods.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record with minimal moving violations.
  • Must be able to achieve DOT Certification (company paid).
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Proven ability to work with hands, build and repair with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a physical assessment.
  • Able to communicate effectively using speech, hearing, and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to pass background requirements and drug screen including THC testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school graduates preferred.
  • Experience building wood shelves or refinishing furniture.
  • Ability to reupholster furniture.

Responsibilities

  • Visit customers’ homes and repair merchandise (Furniture, Upholstery, Cabinets, Leather, etc.) using methods and materials such as Burn-in Soft Fill, Bondo, dry powders for color, aerosol lacquers, shading lacquers, buffing fine scratches from dressers, nightstands, and tabletops, and gluing and clamping components.
  • Drive company-provided technician van to customer homes and return it to the store after the shift.
  • Evaluate furniture repairs and determine actions needed to satisfy customers.
  • Represent Havertys Furniture professionally while visiting customers' homes and inspecting their furniture.
  • Inspect and repair furniture, and help resolve customers' furniture-related issues.
  • Create accurate on-site home reports, with photos and descriptions of damaged merchandise for the Customer Service team.
  • Inspect and maintain the service van and tools in good condition.
