Furniture Handler Trainee
About The Position
Broad River Retail is seeking a Furniture Handler Trainee to join its Operations Team at the Fort Mill corporate site. The position handles furniture and merchandise at the warehouse, receives inventory into the distribution center’s inventory control system, and checks products for damage before delivery to customers. The role operates on a contract-to-hire basis. The work involves manually unloading and loading furniture or using hand trucks, sorting merchandise, operating an RF scanner, and processing recycling and dunnage. The employee is expected to follow material-handling, warehouse safety, and attendance guidelines, keep the building, grounds, and equipment clean, and accept cross-training opportunities. The position requires frequent physical labor in a non-climate-controlled warehouse and may include some outdoor exposure.
Requirements
- Manual dexterity and the capacity to maneuver furniture.
- Ability to listen to and follow directions and instructions.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.

Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks at the warehouse loading dock without damaging products.
- Unload furniture manually or with hand trucks.
- Identify and communicate physical damage to merchandise.
- Sort unloaded items onto carts by size, type, or product code.
- Use an RF scanner to receive inventory into the system.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the building, grounds, and equipment.
- Accept cross-training opportunities.
- Follow material-handling and warehouse safety guidelines.
- Operate recycling machinery.
- Sort and process dunnage.
- Follow the company attendance policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
