About The Position

Elmet Technologies is hiring a 6pm-6am Shift Furnace Operator to join our manufacturing team in Coldwater, Michigan. This is a hands-on role where you’ll operate and monitor production equipment, perform machine setups and changeovers, inspect equipment, maintain accurate production records, and help make sure products meet our quality requirements. If you have manufacturing experience, enjoy working with equipment, and want to build specialized skills in advanced manufacturing, this could be a great next step. This role gives you the opportunity to develop skills beyond basic machine operation. You’ll gain hands-on experience with production equipment, machine setups, process monitoring, quality inspection, material handling, equipment troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. You’ll also have opportunities to cross-train on additional equipment and processes, giving you a broader understanding of the Coldwater manufacturing operation. This position works directly on the manufacturing floor and requires regular interaction with production equipment and materials. You should be comfortable working in an active industrial environment, following required safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, and being on your feet for much of your shift. At our Coldwater facility, you’ll work with specialized manufacturing processes where safety, precision, quality, and consistency matter. As a Furnace Operator, you’ll play a direct role in keeping those processes running safely and producing material that meets our customers’ requirements.

Requirements

1–3 years of manufacturing or machine-operation experience
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
Can perform basic math
Are comfortable learning and using measuring devices
Can follow production instructions and established procedures
Pay close attention to details
Take safety and product quality seriously
Can maintain accurate production records
Are comfortable learning multiple machines and processes
Can work independently while also supporting your team
Have strong communication and problem-solving skills
Can consistently work the 3rd Shift schedule

Nice To Haves

Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or other industrial equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

Safely operate and monitor production equipment
Perform machine setups and product changeovers according to the production schedule
Monitor production processes and make sure equipment is operating properly
Conduct routine equipment inspections
Help troubleshoot equipment issues
Assist with minor equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance activities
Use measuring devices to verify products meet requirements
Complete production records and work orders accurately
Maintain accurate inventory transactions and product traceability
Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other industrial equipment as needed
Keep equipment and work areas clean, safe, and organized according to 5S standards
Cross-train on additional equipment and processes
Support other production needs as required
