About The Position

The Furnace Operator – Steel & Wire role requires a mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely and properly use hand tools and competently use measuring tools such as calipers. The operator will be responsible for using equipment such as a hygrometer, analyzer (CO, CO2, and oxygen), voltmeters, hand tools, pressure switches, flow switches, and proximity switches. Additionally, the operator must possess or be able to obtain a HiLo license and learn to operate an overhead crane.

Requirements

Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to safely and properly use hand tools.
Ability to competently use measuring tools such as calipers.
Possess or be able to learn and pass HiLo curriculum and become licensed.
Ability to learn and operate an overhead crane.
Able to follow detailed instructions.
Able to learn and understand basic computer skills.
Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Able to read work instructions, customer requirements, prints, and other technical documents.
Able to do math calculations and work with numbers; able to work with fractions and decimals.
Able to work as a team as well as work independently, with minimal supervision.
Mechanically inclined; good with hand tools.
Dependable; excellent attendance record.

Team player; able to work well with others.
Accountable; able to work without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

Safely and properly use hand tools.
Competently use measuring tools such as calipers.
Operate equipment including hygrometer, analyzer (CO, CO2, and oxygen), voltmeters, hand tools, pressure switches, flow switches, and proximity switches.
Obtain or maintain a HiLo license.
Learn and operate an overhead crane.
