About The Position

The Furnace Operator – Steel & Wire position requires a mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely and properly use hand tools and competently use measuring tools such as calipers. The operator will use equipment such as a hygrometer, analyzer (CO, CO2, and oxygen), voltmeters, hand tools, pressure switches, flow switches, and proximity switches. A HiLo license is required or the ability to obtain one. The operator will also learn and operate an overhead crane.

Requirements

Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to safely and properly use hand tools.
Competence in using measuring tools such as calipers.
Possess a HiLo license or ability to learn and pass HiLo curriculum and become licensed.
Ability to learn and operate an overhead crane.
Able to follow detailed instructions.
Able to learn and understand basic computer skills.
Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Able to read work instructions, customer requirements, prints and other technical documents.
Able to do math calculations and work with numbers; able to work with fractions and decimals.
Able to work as a team as well as work independently, with minimal supervision.
Mechanically inclined; good with hand tools.
Dependable; excellent attendance record.
Quality focused; takes pride in their work.
Team player; able to work well with others.
Accountable; able to work without constant supervision.
Helper – able to give instruction; willing to help others.
Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and appropriate footwear.
