About The Position

Founded in 1971, Clifton Steel Company (the Company) is a nationally recognized leader in the manufacturing of military armor plate and commercial specialty steel products. Clifton has served the armor plate market for over thirty years and is the premier industry supplier of many of its commercial products. The Company is a specialist in abrasion and impact resistant steel fabrication, particularly for quenched and tempered alloy and manganese steel. As a result of investments in production capabilities, access to critical materials and strong customer relationships, Clifton has established a defensible and sustainable market position.

Requirements

  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time, to perform repetitive motions and lift up to 40 pounds, which includes the shoveling of slag.
  • Able to read inspection tools including a tape measure and micrometers.
  • May require lifting up to 50lbs. Max.
  • May require long periods of standing and/or repetitive motions, start, stop, bending, etc... for long periods of time.
  • Will require ability to visual and audile concentration to perform duties safely.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection on material prior to processing: measurement of thickness, width, length, and visual examination of irregularities such as out of flatness that could result in damage to equipment.
  • Perform Brinell Hardness inspection for in-process and final acceptance.
  • Operate lift trucks and overhead cranes.
  • Operate equipment efficiently and maintain a level of acceptable part quality per internal and customer part specifications.
  • Comprehend and learn to light burners, prime pumps, operate filter systems, clean filters, and understand HT operation, including computer controls, complete machinery inspect forms, and accurately identify plates, and complete HT logs.
  • Record all process parameters into controllers, pc, and Epicor LP systems including proper tagging and tracking of plates with accurate heat and plate numbers.
  • Participate and become actively engaged in the Company Traction & L10 Process.
  • Maintain attention to cleanliness of their work station and follow all company safety rules and guidelines.
