About The Position

The Fundraising Operations and Management Officer is an individual contributor role within PG&E, responsible for strengthening, standardizing, and evolving fundraising operations, systems, and operational readiness across the department. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role focuses on ensuring fundraising teams are well-supported through clear onboarding, strong documentation, effective systems, and reliable operational processes. The Officer plays a key role in operational planning and enablement, partnering closely with fundraising leadership, Finance, Legal, Technology, and external vendors to support compliant, efficient, and scalable fundraising. This includes anticipating operational needs, assessing new fundraising approaches, and translating requirements into actionable guidance, tools, and recommendations. In addition to managing core operational responsibilities, the role provides project management and operational support to the Deputy Director, Fundraising Strategy and Operations, helping advance departmental strategy and keep complex, cross-functional work moving forward. There are opportunities to both identify and own projects where capacity allows. This position reports to the Deputy Director, Fundraising Strategy and Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization, preferably in fundraising operations, compliance, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with U.S. charitable registration and fundraising regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing, documenting, and communicating compliance or operational requirements.
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex information into clear, user-friendly guidance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and M365 tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, socialize and maintain PG&E onboarding resources
  • In coordination with a vendor, manage annual U.S. state charitable registrations and vendor relationships to ensure uninterrupted fundraising operations.
  • Monitor external fundraising and sector developments (e.g., watchdog guidance, regulatory trends) and translate implications into operational recommendations.
  • Assess new fundraising approaches or changes in requirements, documenting impacts, options, timelines, and resource needs, and advising leadership on paths forward.
  • Coordinate annual PCI attestations and operational readiness for fundraising vendors.
  • Maintain and continuously improve centralized fundraising operations documentation and systems guidance across PG&E and Mercy Corps Europe.
  • Own the evolution and operationalization of the Gift Acceptance Policy and related guidance.
  • Manage invoice processing and selected financial administration tasks.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Mercy Corps procurement policies and processes.
  • Manage PG&E’s contract library, and other resources for PG&E members to reference when going through the procurement process.
  • Support the Project Manager with cyclical/recurring projects
  • Provide project management and operational support to the Deputy Director, Fundraising Strategy and Operations, as needed.
  • Identify potential projects within the other responsibilities which could help to further departmental goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
