The Chief Engagement and Growth Officer is a senior executive leader responsible for shaping and executing enterprise-wide strategies that strengthen engagement, expand membership, and grow the oncology nursing community. This role oversees membership development, marketing, communications, volunteerism, meetings, and digital engagement assuring a cohesive, data-informed approach that delivers meaningful value to members throughout their careers. As a member of the ONS Executive Leadership Team, you will partner closely with the CEO, Board, cross-functional leaders, and staff to advance strategic initiatives, accelerate growth, and position ONS for long-term sustainability and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field required
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in growth-oriented organizations, ideally within healthcare associations or membership-based environments.
  • Proven success growing membership, engagement, and community through strategic, data-driven approaches.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence, collaborate, and inspire across diverse stakeholders.

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute strategies that drive member recruitment, retention, and lifetime value at national and international levels.
  • Own and continuously improve the end-to-end member experience—from joining and onboarding to leadership engagement and renewal.
  • Develop onboarding, re-engagement, and churn-reduction initiatives supported by data and lifecycle insights.
  • Analyze membership metrics and performance indicators to guide decision-making and measure impact.
  • Set the enterprise vision for volunteer engagement, leadership development, and recognition across ONS, ONF, and ONCC.
  • Build and sustain a volunteer leadership pipeline that supports progression from early career involvement to organizational leadership.
  • Oversee strategy and staff support for local chapters, strengthening grassroots engagement and leadership capacity.
  • Define and lead a unified, enterprise-wide marketing strategy aligned to organizational priorities.
  • Develop integrated campaigns that clearly articulate the value of ONS, ONCC, and ONF.
  • Oversee public relations, media strategy, and external communications while ensuring strong data integrity and governance.
  • Provide executive oversight of major member events, including annual conferences and regional meetings.
  • Ensure digital platforms and engagement channels foster community, learning, and professional connection.
  • Manage annual budgets and business cases to ensure strategic alignment and responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Drive organizational change and innovation to support new business and service models.
