About The Position

The Make-A-Wish Canada Internship Program is a paid summer internship designed to provide students from all backgrounds with an impactful non-profit work experience, fostering a deep understanding of the sector. The program aims to equip students with hands-on experience and sector knowledge needed for their future careers, while making meaningful contributions to the organization. Interns have the opportunity to work in their preferred areas of interest on significant projects alongside industry leaders. Make-A-Wish Canada is looking for a driven and creative Fundraising Intern to join their Community Partnerships team. This role is based out of Vancouver, is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and operates on a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home office). The intern will report to the Director of Community Partnerships, gain valuable, real-world fundraising experience, and provide support for events, donor research, and data entry.

Requirements

  • Current student or a recent graduate in a business, fundraising, marketing or relevant program.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

  • Some related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to identify potential donors.
  • Utilize research tools, databases, and resources to gather and verify information.
  • Prepare research profiles to support fundraising efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for in-kind donations, auction items, and event sponsorships.
  • Provide support to event committees (e.g., attend meetings and take notes, provide materials, staff/volunteers, timelines, etc.).
  • Support the team to coordinate first party events, with event logistics support.
  • Maintain and update the donor database (SalesForce) with accurate and comprehensive information.
  • Other duties as required.
