About The Position

Make-A-Wish Canada's paid summer internship program offers students from all backgrounds an impactful non-profit work experience, fostering a deep understanding of the sector and equipping them with hands-on experience and sector knowledge for their future careers. Interns contribute meaningfully to the organization, working on significant projects alongside industry leaders. This specific role is for a Community Partnerships Intern, joining the Community Partnerships team in Nova Scotia. The intern will gain valuable, real-world fundraising experience and provide event management support for signature and community events. The role is based out of the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office, is a full-time summer internship (35 hours/week, Monday-Friday), and operates on a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home).

Requirements

  • Education/Certificate in Business/Marketing, Fundraising, or relevant field (or working towards).
  • Proven ability to take initiative and complete projects to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise sound judgment when communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (Funding requirement).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Funding requirement).
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in event management or the non-for-profit sector preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide event management support for signature and community fundraising events.
  • Develop outreach communications and collateral to connect with our supporters, including donors, corporate sponsors, event fundraisers, and volunteers.
  • Prospect research to identify new corporate partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop customized stewardship touchpoints.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Foundation, specifically when communicating with donors and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required.
