The Fundraising Communications Specialist supports A New Leaf's fundraising, donor engagement, and community awareness efforts through the development of compelling written, digital, and visual content. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and working collaboratively with the Philanthropy team, this position assists in creating donor communications, fundraising campaigns, social media content, website updates, and marketing materials that advance the Agency's mission and philanthropic goals. The role coordinates content development, supports donor stewardship and community engagement initiatives, and helps ensure consistent messaging and brand standards across communication channels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Business, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in communications, content development, marketing, fundraising communications, public relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience developing content for digital, print, website, email, and social media platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor communications, nonprofit marketing, philanthropy, or community engagement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience working within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization preferred.
  • Experience using WordPress or other content management systems preferred.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Experience using Hootsuite or similar social media management platforms preferred.
  • Photography, videography, and basic video editing experience preferred.
  • Combination of office-based and field-based work at Agency locations, donor events, community functions, and program sites.
  • Frequent use of computers, cameras, mobile devices, and other communication equipment.
  • Regular local travel to Agency programs, donor events, and community locations to gather content, conduct interviews, and support fundraising and marketing initiatives.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout Agency facilities, program locations, and event venues for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds of marketing materials, photography equipment, event supplies, or display materials.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support fundraising events, community outreach activities, media opportunities, or special projects.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

  • As a mandated reporter under Arizona statute A.R.S. § 13-3620, you are required to immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor to your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Clinical Director, or Chief Officer, who will assist in making the appropriate report to authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Philanthropy team to develop and implement content that supports fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, stewardship efforts, website initiatives, and social media communications.
  • Draft donor-facing communications including appeals, newsletters, direct mail pieces, stewardship communications, annual campaign materials, call scripts, and donor outreach content.
  • Create and edit content for blogs, social media platforms, email communications, digital newsletters, website content, and other communication channels.
  • Assist with the development of advertising copy and creative content for integrated fundraising and marketing campaigns.
  • Support the creation of fundraising and marketing materials that promote Agency programs and encourage philanthropic support.
  • Develop written, visual, and digital content assets based on program activities, participant stories, and Agency impact for fundraising and donor engagement purposes.
  • Gather participant stories, testimonials, program highlights, and impact narratives for use in fundraising, donor stewardship, grant support, and marketing materials.
  • Conduct interviews and gather information from participants, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to support fundraising and communication efforts.
  • Coordinate content development with internal stakeholders and external vendors, consultants, photographers, designers, and communication partners.
  • Provide writing and editing support for speeches, press releases, interviews, event communications, media opportunities, and organizational messaging.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content to support fundraising, marketing, social media, and community engagement efforts.
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other communication tools to develop, edit, and maintain digital and print materials.
  • Maintain an organized digital asset library and monitor content accessibility, usage, and version control.
  • Prepare final communication materials and content projects for review, approval, and distribution by the Director of Marketing.
  • Assist with creating, updating, editing, and maintaining website content using WordPress or similar content management systems.
  • Assist with implementation of the Agency's website, social media content calendar, and digital engagement initiatives.
  • Support social media management activities including content scheduling, posting, audience engagement, and performance monitoring.
  • Respond to social media messages, comments, and inquiries in a professional manner that supports the Agency's reputation and community relationships.
  • Monitor, track, and assist with reporting on website, social media, email marketing, and fundraising communication performance metrics to evaluate engagement, identify trends, and support communication and fundraising objectives.
  • Assist in implementing community communication initiatives and stakeholder outreach efforts that promote philanthropy, community engagement, and awareness of Agency services.
  • Support fundraising events, community outreach activities, and Agency initiatives through content creation, promotion, photography, videography, and communication support.
  • Travel to Agency locations and community events to gather content, conduct interviews, capture photographs and video, and support fundraising and marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify and document content that demonstrates the impact of Agency services and supports community awareness efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
