About The Position
We are hiring fundraisers to work INSIDE the San Diego Zoo! The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has teamed up with Public Outreach to look for people who are genuinely passionate about animals and have an appetite for being a part of a team that is dedicated to saving species worldwide. The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization. They merge wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions. Public Outreach is a fundraising agency that partners with major nonprofits, like the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, to secure long-term, monthly donations through passionate, face-to-face conversations with the public. This is an entry-level role with paid training, and no previous experience is required! We are looking for outgoing team players who enjoy talking with everyone. This position is ideal for people interested in nonprofits, advocacy, marketing, communications, community outreach, or public engagement. Requirements
- 18+ or older and authorized to work in the United States
- Flexible availability
- A minimum commitment to 3 shifts/week or 21 hrs/week
- Interest in nonprofit or advocacy work
- Enjoys being outdoors
- A charismatic personality and positive attitude
- Comfortable starting conversations and engaging with people from all walks of life
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Excited to work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
Nice To Haves
- Social butterflies and people with experience in stage work, acting, or improv are a plus!
- Team players who love a challenge are 100% welcome!
- Previous customer service, sales, or fundraising experience is a plus, but not required!
Responsibilities
- Fundraise through face-to-face communications with members of the public in community spaces.
- Speak with people about nonprofit work and sign them up to become monthly donors to support the campaign objectives.
