About The Position

Camphill Communities Ontario is a not-for-profit organization that provides support services to adults and seniors in Simcoe County who have an intellectual disability. We support people in directing their own lives and in promoting partnerships, opportunities, well-being, freedom and contributions in their community. The summer student “Fundraiser Assistant” will support the Development Team in a variety of fundraising and community engagement activities. Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Development, the Assistant will help with donor stewardship, preparing campaign materials, organizing event logistics, updating databases, and assisting with outreach efforts as needed. This position provides an interested student with an opportunity to learn essential fundraising skills, including donor communications, data management, and event coordination, while working collaboratively within a supportive team environment. The student/assistant will also gain experience in charitable sector practices, ethical fundraising standards, and inclusive community engagement. The Assistant will work in a warm, community-oriented setting.

Requirements

  • Per funding requirements, these opportunities are open to candidates between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred and is legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Able to communicate well, and work well with others
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and work with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Must be able to commit to full contract duration
  • Must be able to provide a recent, up to date and satisfactory criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and/or education in Marketing, Fundraising, or a related field would be an asset but is not required

Responsibilities

  • Support the Development Team in day-to-day fundraising and engagement activities
  • Assist with donor stewardship, including preparing and sending donor communications
  • Maintain and update donor databases, ensuring accurate and confidential record-keeping
  • Enter and track donation data, campaign progress, and donor interactions
  • Help prepare fundraising campaign materials and outreach content
  • Assist with planning and coordinating logistics for fundraising events
  • Support community outreach and donor engagement efforts
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Development and team
  • Prepare reports and summaries using data from donor databases
  • Organize and maintain fundraising files and documentation (digital and physical)
  • Conduct basic research on potential donors and community partnerships
