About The Position

The Functional Consultant will own the problem space, translating client needs into scoped outcomes that can be delivered within a 5-day pulse cycle. This role combines aspects of project management, product management, and UX thinking to ensure the team builds the right thing. The company utilizes a swarm model, pairing senior operators with AI agents to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times.

Requirements

• Ability to own a problem space and guide a swarm toward the right outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to scope, prioritize, and ship work.
• Direct communication skills.
• Experience with AI agents for research, scoping, and documentation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience writing detailed, unambiguous specs for engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services to engage in informed conversations with architects and engineers.
• Working knowledge of Python, Node.js, React, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot Workspace.
• Background in consulting or client-facing delivery, including managing client expectations and scope changes.
• Prior experience on small, autonomous teams (3-4 people).
• UX sensibility, including experience with usability reviews, wireframing, or shaping product decisions based on user interaction.

Responsibilities

• Scope work into pulse-cycle-sized outcomes, breaking down deliverables until they can ship in 5 days.
• Practice spec-driven development by writing clear, detailed specs before the swarm begins building.
• Run the cadence, remove blockers, and keep the swarm focused on the current cycle's priorities.
• Communicate directly with clients to understand their needs and close the gap between requests and actual requirements.
• Embrace agentic development by using AI agents to accelerate research, scoping, and documentation.
• Consider user experience to identify and address potential friction points before shipping.
• Communicate directly and concisely, avoiding unnecessary status meetings or lengthy reports.
