About The Position

Spade is a data and AI platform that turns messy transaction strings into structured, verified records. As a Full Stack Engineer at Spade, you will own product experiences end-to-end, working across both the frontend and backend of their enrichment platform. You will build customer-facing interfaces using React and TypeScript, as well as the Python/Django APIs, data models, and platform services that power them. This is a high-ownership role on a small team where your decisions will directly shape the usability, performance, and reliability of products processing hundreds of millions of transactions.

Requirements

4+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems in fast-paced environments
Strong background with Python, Django, React and Typescript
Experience with API development, SQL, and modern front end frameworks and technologies
Experience building customer-facing systems from scratch, making trade-offs, and executing autonomously in early-stage environments
A product mindset and strong problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and focus on delivering customer value
A collaborative mindset, fostering a culture shared success and continuous improvement
Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

Nice To Haves

Experience with Aurora RDS Postgres
Experience with managing cloud infrastructure via tools like AWS CDK
Experience with transaction, merchant, and location data
Familiarity with fintech / data products
Familiarity with writing performant SQL, using indices and analyzing query performance.

Responsibilities

Collaborate on our technical vision to build a product customers love
Build and maintain customer-facing product experience across React/TypeScript on the frontend and Python/Django on the backend
Develop and maintain low-latency, massively-scalable developer facing APIs and a robust data platform supporting our data science team
Partner with the team to own and improve our engineering best practices and help us scale by keeping our processes effective
Debug production issues across all levels of the stack
Bring a strong collaborative approach to deliver value to customers and internal stakeholders at Spade
