About The Position

Fairlo is becoming a bank and rethinking how it builds technology as it develops new products and undertakes an AI transformation. The Fullstack Engineer will join the Stockholm team and work closely with the CTO, Product, Design, and engineering colleagues in Crete. This role offers ownership and the opportunity to influence both Fairlo’s technology and its engineering practices.

The engineer will work across the customer-facing product experience and the backend services and systems that support it. As part of a cross-functional crew, they will help identify customer needs, develop solutions, ship products, and learn from their results. The role also involves exploring how AI can improve software development, making technical decisions that balance speed, simplicity, scalability, and security, and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.

Requirements

• Solid professional experience in fullstack development, with strong frontend and backend skills.
• Familiarity with modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript, and backend frameworks such as Node.js, Express.js, NestJS, .NET, or similar.
• Experience building APIs, working with relational databases, and developing scalable cloud-based applications; AWS experience is preferred.
• Interest in exploring how AI can improve engineering work and willingness to challenge traditional development practices.
• Interest in building customer-focused products and finding simple solutions to complex problems.
• Initiative, constructive challenge, comfort making decisions, and willingness to take responsibility.
• Ability to thrive in collaborative, fast-moving environments with trust and limited hierarchy.
• Confident English communication skills; English is the shared working language.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with microservices, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience building AI-powered features or working with AI coding agents and modern AI-assisted development workflows.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, or other regulated environments.
• Open-source contributions or personal projects demonstrating curiosity and interest in technology.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop customer experiences, scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• Participate throughout product development, from understanding customer needs and shaping solutions to building, shipping, and learning from outcomes.
• Explore how AI can improve prototyping, development, testing, debugging, and delivery, and help incorporate useful practices into everyday work.
• Make technical decisions that balance speed, simplicity, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and colleagues across Fairlo, contributing ideas and influencing product direction.
• Share knowledge, challenge assumptions, contribute ideas, and support continuous learning within the engineering team.
