About The Position

IFS Logistics, built and launched as 7bridges and now part of IFS, is an AI-native enterprise logistics platform that unifies transport data, optimises carrier spend, and automates execution for enterprise shippers and logistics companies. It is a small product and engineering team within IFS, reporting into the commercial organisation rather than central R&D. The platform is pure SaaS, with customers expected to operate the software themselves. The Staff Fullstack AI Engineer will set the technical direction for a new Experience squad. The squad owns the platform layer that meets the customer, including SSO and identity, IFS Intelligence integration, the demo environment, and the cross-product experience connecting Data Connect, TPAO, Shipper TMS, and Revenue Protect. The role is hands-on and accountable for establishing the squad’s architecture, standards, and delivery. Its technical depth is in backend and platform engineering, but the engineer is expected to contribute across the stack and review React work as readily as Django. The work is grounded in understanding users’ problems and how logistics teams use the product. It includes defining the end-to-end user journey, establishing service boundaries and integration contracts, building secure and usable SSO, tenancy, and permissions, and delivering a commercially important demo environment. The role also covers IFS Intelligence and IFS Cloud integration, including embedding opportunities opened by Project Oliver, and defining safe, observable, cost-controlled ways to introduce agents into product surfaces. The engineer will work closely with the Product and UX Lead, customers, support colleagues, the VP Product, and the Director of Software Architecture. Success includes establishing a written technical approach used by engineering, improving journey issues in production, agreeing and documenting integration architecture, shipping observable surfaces within budget, and raising the standards and capabilities of the squad. The position is remote, and the candidate must be based in the UK or the Netherlands; the company also supports hybrid work and has team clusters in London and Amsterdam.

Requirements

  • Around eight years or more of experience building and running production software.
  • Deep experience with Python and Django REST API design, data modelling, and service reliability.
  • Experience setting technical direction for a team, documenting and defending an approach, and revising it when needed.
  • Strong skills in performance, cost management, and observability.
  • Experience owning production operations and on-call responsibilities as well as system design.
  • Genuine fullstack capability, including comfort with React.
  • A user-minded approach, with attention to how changes feel to the people using the product.
  • A habit of raising engineering standards through code review, pairing, and honest feedback.
  • Practical, daily use of Cursor and Claude, including providing agents with appropriate context and assessing their output critically.
  • Ability to form and state a technical view and work effectively amid ambiguity.
  • Must be based in the UK or the Netherlands.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS, SSO or identity, or ERP integrations.
  • Production experience with LLM agent orchestration, RAG, or evaluations.
  • Experience shipping agents for real product work and judging where agents are appropriate.
  • Experience with simulation or scenario modelling, including synthetic data or replay to validate logic before release.
  • Experience with BigQuery, dbt, Pub/Sub, GCP, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight.

Responsibilities

  • Set and document the technical direction, architecture, and standards for the Experience squad, and remain hands-on in delivery.
  • Own the end-to-end user journey across Data Connect, TPAO, Shipper TMS, and Revenue Protect, including identity, permissions, and navigation.
  • Define and document clear service boundaries and contracts connecting Experience to integrated systems.
  • Work with the Product and UX Lead from problem definition through delivery, and learn from customer use of shipped work.
  • Build SSO, tenancy, and cross-product permissions according to the principle that data is visible by default and restricted only by exception.
  • Develop and maintain a commercially important demo environment as a real product surface.
  • Integrate IFS Intelligence and IFS Cloud, including the embedding path enabled by Project Oliver.
  • Determine where agents belong in product surfaces and establish guardrails, observability, and cost controls for safe agentic behaviour.
  • Review frontend React work as well as backend Django work, and raise the quality of frontend engineering.
  • Represent the squad’s technical perspective to the VP Product and Director of Software Architecture.
  • Establish code review for all merge requests and ensure there is no direct-to-production deployment in the squad.
  • Support the growth of squad engineers through review, pairing, and honest feedback.

Benefits

  • Flexible and hybrid work opportunities.
  • Remote-team working, with team clusters in London and Amsterdam.
