Full-Time Faculty and Program Director - Veterinary Technology
About The Position
Lorain County Community College is seeking a collaborative and innovative educator to serve as Full-Time Faculty and Program Director for the Veterinary Technology Program. Reporting to the Dean of Health and Wellness Sciences, this individual will provide academic and administrative leadership for the program, ensuring excellence in teaching, curriculum, accreditation, and student success while maintaining compliance with AVMA CVTEA, Ohio Department of Higher Education, and Higher Learning Commission standards. The Program Director will foster a collaborative learning environment focused on student achievement, workforce development, and community engagement while advancing the College's commitment to academic excellence and preparing graduates for successful careers in veterinary technology.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in veterinary practice.
- Minimum of three years of experience in teaching veterinary technology at the college level.
- Experience with AVMA CVTEA accreditation standards and processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in curriculum development and assessment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and community partners.
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- Experience in program administration or management.
- Experience with online teaching and learning technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for all aspects of the Veterinary Technology Program, including curriculum, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and support faculty.
- Collaborate on scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Maintain communication with faculty, students, administration, Polaris Career Center, and community partners.
- Coordinate admissions-related activities.
- Support student recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Monitor Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) outcomes.
- Collaborate with advising and student support services.
- Oversee student engagement activities that promote academic success and program completion.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the program's continued success.
