Cape is America’s privacy-first mobile carrier, founded in 2022 with the mission to be a force for good in global wireless. The company was built from the ground up with a focus on privacy and security, offering a secure network to consumers, businesses, and government agencies. Cape closed its Series C in March 2026 and is rapidly scaling to give people back control of their personal information. The team operates on a foundation of high trust and high expectations, with a flat structure where collaboration is prioritized over hierarchy. Engineers will collaborate with world-class professionals to solve complex problems and deliver mission-critical results. The Cape platform provides customers with end-to-end control of their digital identity, optimizing for resiliency, privacy, and security. The Full Stack Software Engineer's mission is to provide connectivity without compromise, building a system that enables resilient, global connectivity with a security and privacy-first mindset. This involves developing features such as a signaling firewall to mitigate malicious attacks, detecting fake base-stations, and identifying/preventing SPAM & Smishing campaigns. The role requires fluency across the full stack to enable ownership and agency in leading these efforts. Engineers are expected to be passionate about solving real-world problems, personal privacy, and empowering peers. The role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on products and users, with a day-to-day that is dynamic and filled with ambiguity, but consistently high-impact.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of full stack software engineering experience.
  • Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or similar field.
  • Experience crafting complex user experiences (UX) with a strong intuition for good design and usability.
  • Exceptional coding skills regardless of framework or stack, especially with TypeScript React (or similar frontend programming language and framework) and Go (or similar backend programming language).
  • Familiarity with data structures, loading patterns, web frameworks, and other technical tools and concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to iterate quickly with teammates, incorporating feedback and holding a high bar for quality.
  • Proven ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience brainstorming and iterating with product designers.
  • High ownership and the drive to take a problem from ideation to production independently.
  • Ability to take a thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving that considers tradeoffs and avoids over-engineering.
  • Skill and comfort working in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals and understand how technical decisions impact the people who will use what you're building.
  • Understanding of cryptographic systems and how to design privacy conscious solutions.
  • Ability to learn new technology and concepts, even without in-depth experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build beautiful, responsive and reliable websites and landing pages.
  • Work in Figma, and translate designs into code.
  • Maintain high coding standards through the development of guidelines, active participation in code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among your team.
  • Champion the security, performance, and stability of our web applications. You will implement and oversee robust testing, monitoring, and release processes to guarantee a seamless and trustworthy user experience.
  • Actively improve user workflows by collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless experiences across product boundaries and a cohesive user experience.
  • Build reliable, performant, and scalable systems that enable other product teams to build robust web applications without requiring deep domain expertise in the underlying infrastructure.
