Full Stack Software Engineer – Associate

DTCC•Coppell, TX

About The Position

This associate-level role is for an early-career or developing engineer with approximately 2–4 years of hands-on full-stack application development experience. The engineer will work in an Agile team, take ownership of assigned stories and tasks, and grow with guidance from senior engineers. The position focuses primarily on backend development using Java and Spring Boot, including building or modifying RESTful APIs, with additional work on frontend features and database queries. Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka or JMS is helpful but not required. The role also involves using development tools and practices such as Git, unit testing, CI/CD workflows, and structured logging, with baseline awareness of cloud and container platforms. The engineer is expected to follow engineering standards, security guidelines, and compliance requirements in a regulated financial environment. Candidates should be prepared to explain real project contributions and walk through code they have written. They should have sample projects in an IDE that demonstrate their skills; a Hello World program is not considered sufficient. Interview activities may include screen sharing, demonstrating problem-solving in an IDE, and answering foundational Java, SQL, and frontend questions. Deep system design is not expected. The role does not require independently designing complex distributed systems, owning end-to-end architecture, advanced Kafka tuning, cloud cost optimization, complex performance engineering, or formally leading or mentoring a squad. The position is listed as hybrid in Dallas, Jersey, or Tampa, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The stated duration is six months or more, with a possible extension, and the employment type is contract to hire.
