Visionist•Annapolis Junction, MD
•$187,000 - $264,000

About The Position

Visionist is hiring a Full-Stack Software Engineer focused on data pipelines for a fully funded opportunity on its largest prime contract. The role supports a mature, web-based analytical platform used by hundreds of mission users. The team combines analysts and engineers to build specialized tools that improve operational efficiency and respond quickly to user needs. The broader program includes systems design and engineering, database administration, data science and knowledge management, enterprise risk management, integration and test, and operations and systems support. The work involves collaboration with users, policy makers, and mission leadership in a service-oriented environment. The engineer will lead data-processing workflow design and development; build and maintain ingestion pipelines, scalable REST APIs, and user-facing visualizations; and support the data lifecycle from collection and transformation through storage, retrieval, and presentation. The role uses API-driven microservices, NoSQL databases, Apache NiFi, and modern web frameworks, with data storage and performance work involving Elasticsearch and Dgraph and additional support for MongoDB and Redis. The engineer will also improve code quality, testing, documentation, and task management; use established design patterns and AI platforms; collaborate with analysts, product owners, and engineers; mentor teammates; and improve processes for integrating data sources. Active Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph is required. U.S. citizenship is required; green card holders and permanent residents are not eligible. Applicants selected must obtain or maintain a government security clearance. The position is based around an interview process that includes an interview with a Visionist team at its headquarters in Columbia, Maryland; the posting does not specify a workplace type.
