About The Position

Schwab Technology Services builds technology products and services that support how clients manage their money. This Software Engineer will build and enhance the technology stack supporting Billing and Invoicing capabilities across Schwab products and services, using Java and Spring Boot and GitHub Copilot. The Billing Solutions Technology team maintains SaaS and internally developed applications for billing needs, including internal user interfaces, system integrations, data aggregation, fee calculation logic, and reporting. The systems process billions of dollars in revenue. The role will deliver high-quality solutions supporting Managed Investing product launches in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

Requirements

At least 4 years of experience developing large-scale software solutions using Java, Spring and Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Dataflow and other cloud frameworks, and REST APIs supporting high-volume transactions in highly available environments.
At least 4 years of experience implementing automated unit, acceptance, and integration tests according to industry best practices.
At least 4 years of experience with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, PostgreSQL, and/or DB2.
At least 3 years of experience building messaging applications using RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalent technologies.
At least 3 years of experience with authentication protocols such as OAuth and SAML.
At least 3 years of experience authoring and maintaining integration layers with vendor systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working in an Agile environment.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Ability to discover solutions and develop designs based on engineering principles.
Track record of maintaining high quality while delivering on tight schedules.
Collaborative mindset and bias for action when engaging with Product Management, Architects, SRE, adjacent teams, and other business areas.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or related practical experience.
At least 4 years of experience in cloud deployment using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), with technologies such as GitHub, Bamboo, GitLab, and LaunchDarkly.
At least 3 years of experience with cloud platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or GCP.
At least 2 years of prior experience in IT transformations and system modernization from legacy to distributed platforms, such as mainframe COBOL applications and DB2 to Java applications and SQL.
Experience implementing batch applications using the Spring framework and Control-M scheduler.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS.
Proficiency in developing Visio diagrams, architecture and design documentation, functional and technical specifications, and automated test processes.
Willingness to learn and document all aspects of the technology stack.
Ability to research and document production and test environments, architecture, and design work.
Experience with the Atlassian tool stack, including JIRA and Confluence.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver solutions as part of an Agile Scrum team.
Help mentor and coach junior team members on software development principles and practices.
Support and triage issues and participate in production support to build resilient, secure systems and prevent client-impacting issues.
Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to define software requirements, decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks.
Deliver new concepts and features with development peers in an agile environment.
Use automated software testing tools and frameworks, including test-driven development, to support high-quality delivery.
Drive low-level design of software components and libraries used to implement business use cases.
Participate in migrating software product releases into the production environment.
