About The Position

Preferred Risk Insurance Services is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer who combines strong Java and/or C#/.NET engineering fundamentals with an AI-first development mindset. The developer will design, build, test, deploy, maintain, and support web applications, APIs, services, and internal development tools using Java, C#/.NET, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Microsoft Azure technologies. AI-assisted development is expected throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design to coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and code review. The role also involves building AI-powered developer tools and workflows, evaluating generated code for quality and security, and identifying opportunities to use AI and automation to improve productivity and software quality. The developer will create REST APIs, microservices, integrations, Azure Functions, and other service-based components; design scalable Azure solutions; troubleshoot complex issues; collaborate with technical and business stakeholders; and take ownership of software quality through appropriate testing. The position also provides technical leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate developers and supports multiple projects and business priorities.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated experience operating at a Senior Developer level.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent education and professional experience.
Strong professional development experience with Java.
Experience with C# and modern .NET/ASP.NET Core.
Experience with modern Java development environments and tooling, including IntelliJ IDEA and JDK distributions such as Amazon Corretto.
Strong understanding of object-oriented development, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, API design, design patterns, and modern application architecture.
Strong experience developing REST-based APIs and web services.
Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or other cloud-based application development.
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design.
Experience with Git, GitHub, and/or Azure DevOps and collaborative development practices.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other developers.
Experience working on multiple projects or business initiatives simultaneously.
Technical experience with languages and frameworks including Java, C#, .NET/ASP.NET Core, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
Experience with Java/JDK, Amazon Corretto, IntelliJ IDEA, REST services, and microservices.
Experience with Microsoft development tools including Visual Studio 2022+ and Visual Studio Code.
Experience with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
Experience with AI development platforms such as Claude/Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT/OpenAI, Cursor or comparable tools; LLM APIs, AI agents, prompt/context engineering, and development automation.
Experience with REST APIs, JSON, Postman, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
Experience with modern development environments such as IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio 2022+, Visual Studio Code, and JetBrains Rider or comparable tools.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and architecture concepts including REST services, microservices, distributed systems, dependency injection, cloud architecture, integration architecture, and relational database design.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and support modern web applications, APIs, services, and internal development tools.
Develop applications using Java, C#/.NET/ASP.NET Core, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, SQL Server, and Azure technologies.
Use AI-assisted development throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, coding, refactoring, debugging, testing, documentation, and code review.
Design and build AI-powered developer tools, agents, utilities, and reusable workflows to automate repetitive engineering tasks and improve developer productivity.
Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and architectural consistency.
Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to reduce development time, improve software quality, accelerate testing, or simplify business processes.
Design and develop REST APIs, microservices, integrations, Azure Functions, and other service-based components.
Design scalable solutions using Microsoft Azure services and related cloud technologies.
Troubleshoot complex application, integration, database, and production issues; use modern development and AI tools to accelerate root-cause analysis and resolution.
Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, product owners, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Create appropriate unit, integration, API, and automated tests for developed solutions.
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior and intermediate developers.
Participate in code reviews and promote standards for architecture, maintainability, security, testing, and performance.
Work effectively across multiple projects and business priorities simultaneously.
