About The Position

FS Sales is a division of Capital One Financial Services specializing in auto loan technology. It partners with car dealerships nationwide to streamline loan origination and develop dealership services that improve sales and funding processes. The Full-stack Engineer will help drive a technology transformation by building cloud-based solutions in a collaborative, iterative delivery environment. The role includes technical leadership across Agile teams and work on distributed microservices and full-stack systems that address company regulatory needs and support customer experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, including Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of coding experience with more than two of the following: Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.
• 3+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
• 4+ years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
• 4+ years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience using Git-based version-control systems such as Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
• Experience using modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
• At least 1 year of experience mentoring engineers and supporting professional development within technical teams.
• At least 1 year of experience using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Experience with interactive AI tooling for productivity beyond basic code completion.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
• Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems that meet regulatory needs.
• Stay current with technology trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor members of the engineering community.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions and customer experiences.
• Use programming languages, databases, container orchestration services, and AWS tools and services to build solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and direction across Agile teams, establishing standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
• Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
• Identify opportunities for improvement, implement targeted refactoring, and contribute to reducing technical debt and enhancing system performance.
• Influence long-term technology strategy by evaluating emerging tools and practices in a “you build it, you own it” environment.
