Full-stack Engineer 4 (Typescript, Vue, AWS)
About The Position
Capital One is seeking a Full-stack Software Engineer to help drive a major technology transformation. The role leads a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems that address company regulatory needs. The engineer collaborates with digital product managers and Agile teams to deliver cloud-based solutions, provides technical leadership, and partners with architects on service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks. The position uses technologies including Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services. The engineer is expected to encourage experimentation and learning, mentor colleagues, improve system performance, reduce technical debt, and influence long-term technology strategy in a “you build it, you own it” environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7+ years of coding experience with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala.
- 3+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- 4+ years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
- 4+ years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
- 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience using Git-based version-control systems such as Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
- Experience using modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
- Experience with interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity using capabilities beyond basic code completion.
- 1+ year of experience mentoring engineers and driving professional development within technical teams.
- 1+ year of experience using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
- Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems to address regulatory needs.
- Promote learning about technology trends and emerging technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor members of the engineering community.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that support customer experiences.
- Use programming languages, databases, container orchestration services, and AWS tools and services to build solutions.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, implement targeted refactoring, and contribute to reducing technical debt and improving system performance.
- Evaluate emerging tools and practices to influence long-term technology strategy in a “you build it, you own it” environment.
