About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Fuel Truck Mechanic to join our Houston-based maintenance team. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with a strong background in heavy-duty truck repair and diagnostics, particularly with fuel delivery equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and major/minor repairs on fuel trucks and associated components. This position is primarily based in a truck shop environment; however, remote service and road service calls will be required at times.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance or a similar role
- Must supply personal hand tools; company provides all major shop tools
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy components as needed
- Strong understanding of DOT and safety regulations
Nice To Haves
- Certifications preferred (ASE, OEM certifications, diesel tech certificates, etc.)
- Cummins Insite experience preferred; additional OEM diagnostic experience is a plus
- Lite fabrication skills, welding, cutting, and fabrication experience are a plus
- CDL with HAZMAT endorsement are required within 90 days of employment if not currently held
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy-duty fuel trucks and related systems
- Conduct preventive maintenance and DOT-compliant inspections
- Diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel delivery systems, brakes, suspensions, and drivetrains
- Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify performance issues (Cummins Insite experience preferred)
- Respond to remote service and road service calls when required
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation
- Ensure all repairs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and fleet managers regarding repair status and needed parts
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
