About The Position

Olgoonik is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This position involves driving vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations. The role requires operating fuel trucks, managing loading and unloading processes, performing inspections and maintenance on vehicles, and maintaining accurate records. The job also includes performing emergency repairs, using specialized tools, and adhering to all traffic laws and company procedures. A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required, and candidates must be U.S. Citizens. As an Alaska Native corporation, Olgoonik provides hiring preference to its shareholders, descendants, and their spouses to the extent allowed by law.

Requirements

  • Previous experience or training in operating this type of equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the equipment around ground personnel.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and compose simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with CDL certification.
  • Must have and maintain an Airbrakes, Hazmat and Tanker CDL endorsement.
  • Must have a current US Government NACI or be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries.
  • Must also be able to maintain a NACI.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of dump truck experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Additional experience of operating multiple types of equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
  • Drive truck into position to load at filing rack.
  • Drive truck to customer premises.
  • Open valves or start pumps to fill tank.
  • Read gauges or meters and record quantity loaded.
  • Connect the hose to tank and open valves.
  • Record amount delivered and issue ticket to customer.
  • Attach ground wire to truck.
  • Accomplish necessary tasks stated in NSB Contract for fuel division.
  • Climb fuel storage tanks to take measurements of holding tanks.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes.
  • Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.
  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
  • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
  • Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • Report on any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
  • Use and maintain the tools and equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing and measuring devices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
