About The Position

Stefanini Group is hiring a Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI. This role is responsible for the design, development, advance product & quality planning (APQP), and production release of systems and components within Fuels Systems, specifically Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules. The position also involves driving quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency initiatives, while communicating technical product status to management. The engineer will interact with suppliers and collaborate with internal and external groups such as the vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants. A key aspect of the role is to support and drive quality improvement initiatives related to fuel system components and assemblies.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience (preferred range discussed was 2-3+ years).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent).
  • Design Release Engineer, Product Engineer, or Component Engineer experience (not primarily CAD/design-focused roles).
  • Experience with fuel systems, preferably Fuel tanks, Fuel delivery modules (FDMs)/fuel pumps, Urea/DEF tank systems.
  • Understanding of APQP processes.
  • Experience supporting product validation activities (DVP&R exposure preferred).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with suppliers, manufacturing, validation labs, program teams, and quality organizations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct fuel tank design/release experience.
  • Fuel delivery module (FDM) experience.
  • Injection molding and/or blow molding experience.
  • DFMEA experience.
  • Design for Six Sigma certification or training.
  • GD&T knowledge.
  • NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM/CAD system experience.
  • Virtual simulation experience.
  • Fastener and torque application knowledge.
  • OEM automotive fuel systems experience.

Responsibilities
