About The Position

Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC is seeking an FSQA, R&D, and Lab Manager in Sioux City, Iowa to plan, direct, and coordinate quality control and food safety programs to ensure finished products meet company, customer, and regulatory standards. This role involves managing FSQA supervisors, technicians, and laboratory staff, providing training, technical guidance, and performance oversight. The manager will develop, implement, and monitor HACCP, GMP, SQF, and USDA compliance programs, conduct audits, and oversee product quality deviation investigations and corrective and preventive actions. This position serves as the primary contact for USDA inspectors and participates in third-party and customer audits. The role also includes managing the chemistry and microbiology laboratory, ensuring proper staffing, training, good laboratory practices, and adherence to industry and government testing protocols. Responsibilities extend to developing and maintaining SOPs, analytical methods, and coordinating laboratory purchasing. The manager will utilize statistical process control to analyze data related to product quality, shelf life, and process capability, and lead R&D projects involving new product design, process optimization, and implementation of new technologies to improve quality and safety. Collaboration with operations to address quality issues, improve sanitation procedures, and enhance process efficiency is also key. The role requires preparing technical reports summarizing data analysis, findings, and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Three years’ experience in quality assurance and food safety within the food or meat processing industry
  • Two years’ experience in lab work within the food production industry
  • Experience developing and maintaining SOPs and training programs
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment (NIR lab equipment, AA spectroscopy, and titrators)
  • Experience supervising laboratory operations in microbiology or chemistry testing environments
  • Experience supporting USDA-regulated quality and food safety programs, including HACCP, GMP, and SQF compliance
