About The Position

The Frozen Food/Dept Leader helps create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintains a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in meeting department sales and profit goals and monitors established quality assurance standards. The leader supports the Customer 1st strategy, encourages associates to provide excellent service, and demonstrates the company's values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

The position promotes trust and respect among associates, helps customers with product questions and recommendations, and maintains knowledge of department products and specials. It also supports the department's merchandising, inventory, food safety, temperature monitoring, equipment maintenance, and safety practices.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

• Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates and maintain a positive attitude.
• Create a welcoming customer environment by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
• Maintain product knowledge and respond to questions or make product suggestions.
• Inform customers about frozen food specials and recommend items that meet their needs.
• Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current on current, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
• Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
• Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance needs and report items requiring repair to the appropriate department or store manager.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
