About The Position

The Frozen Food Clerk keeps store frozen cases stocked and clean during business hours, assists customers as needed, and maintains a friendly, energetic demeanor while following Frozen Department procedural guidelines. The position involves stocking and presenting products, maintaining accurate tags and prices, checking product rotation and quality, receiving and logging shipments, and keeping department areas safe, sanitary, and organized. The clerk also provides customer assistance and product information, supports sales through selling and cross-selling, and uses department equipment to move, weigh, and label products. Duties may include other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• Maintain the highest level of customer service.
• Support and contribute to team goals.
• Have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
• Be able to work varied hours and days as business dictates.
• Be able to transfer boxes or crates weighing 40–60 pounds vertically or horizontally, over specified distances and heights, without mechanical assistance.
• Be able to use a pallet jack to move products weighing 500–1,000 pounds, applying a force of 25–50 pounds over distances of 15–50 feet.
• Be able to apply upper body forces up to 10 pounds and coupling forces between 50 and 60 pounds, as specified.
• Be able to use a two-step stool to access shelves.
• Be able to repetitively bend or squat to access items near floor level.
• Be able to stand continuously for periods of up to four hours and for a total of eight hours per shift.
• Be able to work in controlled temperatures, including coolers and freezers.
• Have the vision needed to order, stock, and inventory products.
• Be able to walk up to three miles per eight-hour period.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of grocery retail experience with Frozen department processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Keep frozen cases, storage areas, and work areas clean and safe, including cleaning shelves and products, clearing spills and hazardous debris, and sweeping.
• Stock and organize frozen cases; present, face, and fill products according to department schematics and ensure tag and pricing accuracy.
• Check rotation of frozen products, identify expired stock, and discard outdated or spoiled items.
• Respond positively to customer inquiries and assist with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
• Monitor point-of-purchase signs and ensure recipe cards, product coupons, promotional material, and information on complimentary foods are available.
• Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
• Maintain product knowledge and product preparation knowledge.
• Walk the department regularly to maintain an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
