About The Position

We're building and scaling a high-growth D2C product used by hundreds of thousands of customers globally. We move fast, ship often, and design quality is a core driver of conversion, retention, and product trust. We're looking for a Frontend Designer with deep design instincts and strong frontend skills — someone who can take real ownership of how our product looks, feels, and scales visually. We don't use Figma. Design is collaborative and built directly in code, typically starting from wireframes. You'll define and evolve our design system, set the visual bar, and ship UI that reflects it across multiple surfaces of the product. This is not a junior or mid execution role. We're looking for someone who has strong opinions on design and design systems, has done this at a high level, and can both set direction and ship the work themselves. This is not a 9–5 role. We move fast, ship often, and expect ownership. If you're a strong designer who codes, takes pride in elevating product quality, and wants real impact — read on.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of frontend design or design engineering experience.
  • Exceptional design skills — strong portfolio showing taste, visual hierarchy, typography, layout, and conversion-focused thinking.
  • Designer-to-developer background with advanced Figma expertise. Must have started as a UI/UX designer before transitioning into frontend development.
  • Autonomous design excellence ability to create complete interfaces from high-level references with exceptional attention to detail as a baseline expectation.
  • Deep experience with design systems — you've built or significantly evolved one, not just used one.
  • Strong proficiency in Next.js, React, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS — you implement your own designs at a high standard.
  • Experience with UI component libraries (NextUI, HeroUI, or similar).
  • Ability to design and ship UI without relying on a dedicated designer or Figma mockups.
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS — clean, semantic, maintainable code.
  • Strong attention to detail — pixel-accurate implementation matters to you.
  • Experience with Git and modern version control workflows.
  • Portfolio showcasing strong design AND production-shipped frontend work.
  • You have strong opinions on design and you defend them with clarity.
  • You care about how things look and how they perform.
  • You take a vague brief or wireframe and produce something polished without constant direction.
  • You ship clean UI fast without over-engineering.
  • You raise the bar for the team — others learn from how you work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in D2C SaaS or subscription-based products.
  • Background in performance marketing, CRO, or conversion-driven design.
  • Experience designing forms, editors, or document-heavy UI.
  • Exposure to A/B testing frameworks and experimentation systems.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding other designers and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Own, structure, and evolve the design system — tokens, components, patterns, interaction standards, and visual language.
  • Set the visual quality bar across the product and ensure consistency across all surfaces.
  • Translate brand and product strategy into a coherent, scalable design language.
  • Continuously audit the product for visual debt, inconsistencies, and opportunities to elevate quality.
  • Design web interfaces directly in code, working from wireframes and product briefs.
  • Apply structured design principles to deliver clean, on-brand, conversion-focused interfaces.
  • Ship UI for landing pages, onboarding flows, paywalls, editor experiences, and dashboards.
  • Ensure designs are accessible, responsive, and performant across devices.
  • Implement designs using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS.
  • Build and maintain scalable, maintainable, and performant UI components.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistency.
  • Support A/B test implementation — variant UI builds via GrowthBook.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and design leadership to deliver polished UI.
  • Translate wireframes and requirements into production-ready interfaces with minimal back-and-forth.
  • Set the example for design quality on the team — your work raises the bar for others.
