Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 1 year customer service experience in health care office preferred
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States in a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely patient registration utilizing medical systems.
  • Verify appropriate patient insurance coverage using the facility medical necessity tool.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, family members, and other medical professionals.
  • Welcome patients and visitors, answer or refer inquiries.
  • Note patient arrival in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  • Identify patients in the computer system and create new accounts if necessary.
  • Prepare necessary patient paperwork prior to appointments.
  • Call "No Show" appointments to reschedule, make notations in the Practice Management System, and send letters when necessary.
  • Schedule appointments in person or by telephone, optimizing patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
  • Respond to patients in distress in emergency situations using good reasoning and judgment.
  • Update information in the Practice Management System (EMR) by working with patients to obtain updated information.
  • Identify payer sources, verify insurance eligibility and financial status, and assign the correct payor type.
  • Verify if prior authorization from insurance is required and notify the Billing Department if necessary.
  • Keep the reception area clean and organized.
  • Record and update financial information, and collect patient copays and/or balances at check-in/out.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Follow policies and procedures and report changes as needed.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service skills.
  • Answer the telephone in a timely and polite manner.
  • Communicate with patients, visitors, providers, and team members courteously, professionally, cooperatively, and maturely.
  • May participate in supporting the clinic’s social media presence, including gathering content, sharing clinic-approved updates, and assisting with community engagement efforts as directed.
