About The Position

This Assistant Manager role is responsible for complete restaurant operations, including ensuring great food and beverage, service, staff, and atmosphere. The position is full-time and involves maintaining weekly budgets, assisting with financial operating plans, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Key aspects include staff development, performance management, fostering a positive leadership climate, maintaining high standards of quality product and service, and upholding the restaurant's appearance, maintenance, and sanitation standards. The manager is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment in ensuring sound operations and building community relations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains weekly budget and reporting process in accordance with established company deadlines and procedures.
  • Assists with achievement of restaurant’s financial operating plan, to include controllable costs, sales projections, and operating profit.
  • Responsible for restaurant policies and procedures designed to affect control of restaurant costs and expenses.
  • Customarily exercises discretion and independent judgment to ensure sound operations.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent information to staff and management team through communication memos, postings, and shift meetings to ensure awareness.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all Company information and is forthcoming in reporting all policy or procedure violations or wrongdoing to the General Manager.
  • Implements in-store promotions and specials to Barrio Tacos standards.
  • Builds community relations to maintain Barrio Tacos reputation and involvement within local community.
  • Communicates with General Manager regarding any marketing or promotional activities before implementation.
  • Provides a leadership climate, which promotes fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the company expectations of performance and behavior in the restaurant as established in the employee handbook and standard of operations manual.
  • Makes certain that Barrio Tacos safety and security policies are communicated and enforced.
  • Maintains the posting of all legal documentation and information necessary for compliance.
  • Ensures legal requirements are communicated and acknowledged by management team and staff.
  • Corrects any variances to local board of health inspections within 24 hours of notification.
  • Ensures completion of all required documentation in compliance with payroll, labor laws, and personnel policies.
  • Ensures performance reviews occur for staff as required by company standard.
  • Assists in creating action plans and individual development plans through the utilization of SL2 with each member of the management team.
  • Helps hold management team accountable to develop staff members through the utilization of Barrio Tacos training materials.
  • Focuses on the retention of quality employees by providing opportunities for growth and development.
  • Makes recommendations which are given particular weight for hiring and firing other employees within the respective restaurant.
  • Provides added value to the restaurant through building relationships, supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff.
  • Implements recognition programs to reward employee contributions toward Barrio Tacos goals and objectives.
  • Ensures trainer meetings are held according to Barrio Tacos expectations.
  • Makes time for one on one’s and holds management team accountable for their completion.
  • Works closely with management team to enforce adherence to Barrio Tacos specs and standards.
  • Demonstrates passion for service by maintaining high profile on the floor and establishing customer contact in the front-of-house.
  • Maintains standards of quality product and service as determined by Barrio Tacos systems and procedures.
  • Follows the “bubble” as business dictates to achieve smooth restaurant operations and provide a Barrio Tacos experience for guests.
  • Performs “concurrent duties” of non-exempt tasks during appropriate times to ensure guest satisfaction while in charge.
  • Responds to guest complaints within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Delegates to management team and staff the responsibility of a great atmosphere through monitoring lighting, sound, TVs, and HVAC.
  • Upholds Barrio Tacos cleanliness standards through employee accountability and the utilization of restaurant checklists.
  • Facilitates store evaluation preparation and takes corrective action to variances within established time frame.
  • Assists with a preventative maintenance program and ensures the existence of the maintenance log within the restaurant.
  • Assists with maintaining existing contracts and warranties on equipment and services in restaurant.
