Front Load Driver

Waste Pro•Jackson, MS

About The Position

The Front Load Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to collect garbage, primarily servicing commercial businesses by picking up front-load containers. The driver uses controls inside the truck cab to empty containers, may open corral doors, and may roll 3–4-yard containers weighing up to 600 pounds into position for dumping. The driver transports waste to a designated local landfill or disposal area, cleans up loose trash and spills, and performs vehicle inspections and cleaning. Work is performed under supervision and reviewed through route observation and discussion of problems. The role requires safe operation of the truck, including inspections, evaluation of materials for possible hazardous substances, and judgment about what materials can be transported safely. Drivers complete route and productivity sheets, record mileage and fuel consumption, maintain required logs and vehicle condition reports, and communicate professionally with customers and internal contacts. They provide courteous and expeditious customer service and support company and municipal goals. Drivers maintain the truck and its equipment, including cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body on landfill runs and washing the exterior weekly. Vehicle checks may include inspecting under the hood and undercarriage, checking fluid levels and tire pressure, and filling the tank. The role also includes assigned training, keeping current with job-appropriate technology, and other duties assigned by a supervisor.
