About The Position

The Front Help position is responsible for greeting customers, taking orders, processing payments, preparing handcrafted drinks, making bowls and acai bowls, assisting with food packaging, and helping maintain smooth communication between customers, kitchen staff, and management. This role requires a clear understanding of the Lotus Test Kitchen menu, including bowls, acai bowls, handcrafted drinks, toppings, sauces, and available modifications. Front Help staff must be able to answer customer questions, prepare menu items accurately, and support both front-of-house and kitchen operations. At times, this position will also assist with dishwashing, kitchen prep work, restocking, cleaning, and catering preparation as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers politely and professionally when they enter the restaurant.
  • Take customer orders at the counter and enter them accurately into the POS system.
  • Process cash, credit card, and debit card transactions.
  • Provide correct change and maintain an accurate cash drawer.
  • Balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
  • Communicate customer orders clearly to the kitchen staff.
  • Monitor order status and help ensure prompt preparation and delivery.
  • Assist with preparing bowls, packaging food, and organizing takeout orders.
  • Prepare and fulfill handcrafted drink orders, including fruit teas and milk teas.
  • Prepare tea and drink ingredients at the beginning of the shift.
  • Ensure all drink ingredients, toppings, cups, lids, and supplies are properly stocked.
  • Restock napkins, straws, lids, utensils, bags, and other customer supplies.
  • Keep the front counter, customer area, and workstations neat, clean, and organized.
  • Sweep and mop floors regularly as needed.
  • Listen to and help resolve customer complaints, suggestions, and inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Prepare and arrange catering orders as needed.
  • Assist kitchen staff with prep work and side dish preparation when necessary.
  • Help inventory supplies and goods with the supervising manager when needed.
  • Follow food safety, cleanliness, and restaurant operating procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the full Lotus Test Kitchen menu, including bowls, acai bowls, handcrafted drinks, toppings, sauces, and available modifications.
  • Be able to explain menu items to customers and answer basic questions about ingredients, preparation, and options.
  • Prepare bowls, acai bowls, and handcrafted drinks accurately based on customer orders and restaurant standards.
  • Assist with drink preparation, including fruit teas, milk teas, and other specialty beverages.
  • Assist with kitchen prep work as needed, including preparing ingredients, portioning items, restocking stations, and organizing supplies.
  • Assist with washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and maintaining a clean kitchen and prep area when needed.
  • Support both front-of-house and kitchen operations to ensure smooth daily service.
