About The Position

SciTec, a Firefly Aerospace Company, is seeking a Front End Software Engineer to design and build user-facing web applications that present complex, real-time data clearly, reliably, and intuitively. The role focuses on modern frontend development, performance, and usability for mission-critical systems that operate continuously. The successful candidate will care about code quality, user experience, and system reliability, and collaborate effectively with backend, platform, and systems engineers. SciTec works exclusively on U.S. government contracts that require all employees to be U.S. citizens. The company cannot sponsor or assume sponsorship of employee work visas. U.S. citizenship is also required to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. SciTec offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The pay range is $127,000–$193,000 per year; compensation offers may consider factors including responsibilities, experience, education and training, and skills. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or a related technical field.
At least 5 years of professional experience developing frontend web applications.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React.
Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
Experience integrating frontend applications with REST or similar APIs.
Familiarity with frontend build tooling and package management.
Experience working in Linux environments and using Git.
Strong understanding of frontend architecture, modular design, and maintainability.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, well-tested code.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
U.S. citizenship, as required for SciTec’s U.S. government contracts.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with TypeScript.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and CI/CD frameworks.
Experience with Python, Unreal Engine, and C++.
Experience building data-rich or real-time user interfaces.
Experience with state management libraries such as Redux or Zustand.
Experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress.
Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
Experience with data visualization or geospatial tools such as D3, Cesium, or WebGL.
Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Experience collaborating with UX/UI designers.
Active DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain frontend web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
Build responsive, intuitive, and performant user interfaces for real-time or near-real-time data.
Collaborate with backend and platform engineers to integrate APIs and data services.
Translate user and customer needs into clear UI designs and technical implementations.
Ensure frontend applications are reliable, maintainable, and testable.
Identify and remediate UI bugs, performance issues, and security concerns.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies.
Contribute to frontend architecture decisions, including state management and component design.
Write and maintain automated frontend tests.
Support documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.
Perform other duties as assigned.
