Front End Software Engineer
About The Position
Peraton’s Defense Intelligence Solutions business unit is seeking an experienced Front End Software Engineer to support its SITE III DO contract. The contract supports the orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of mission-critical applications and services for a major Directorate within the U.S. Intelligence Community. The broader support effort applies architecture design, data science, cloud services, DevSecOps, and platform integration to sustain and evolve the global U.S. human intelligence apparatus and its partners. This position is fully on-site in Indian Head, Maryland, and requires full-time work in a SCIF; hours are flexible. The engineer will design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems, with a focus on website front ends. Front-end implementation must support multiple browser types and versions, meet Section 508 accessibility requirements, and perform for users with bandwidth constraints.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an area relevant to the position and 12 or more years of applicable experience, or a relevant master’s degree and 10 or more years, or a relevant Ph.D. and 7 or more years; an additional four years of applicable experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active TS/SCI clearance or SCI eligibility, and an active polygraph or ability to obtain a polygraph.
- Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, Angular, Bootstrap, or another UI framework.
- Experience with Spring Boot and Java.
- Experience building prototypes in HTML or PowerPoint.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Ability to work full-time in a SCIF.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with OpenShift, Keycloak, or WildFly.
- Experience with Material-UI.
- Experience with Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as JMeter, Selenium, or Robot Framework.
- Currently active Security+ or other IAT II/III-level certification.
- AWS experience.
- Experience with STIG hardening.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems containing logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers on the planning, design, development, and use of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determine computer user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve issues involving program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
- Prepare operating instructions and design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine whether a design is feasible within time and cost constraints.
- Consult with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and obtain information about project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes and consequences.
- Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
- Design website layouts and implement images, content, buttons, navigation, and internal links.
- Verify that website visual front ends are error-free and match the intended design.
- Implement front ends that support multiple browser types and versions, comply with Section 508, and perform for bandwidth-disadvantaged users.
