About The Position

LodgeLink is hiring a Staff Software Engineer focused on frontend architecture to shape its workforce travel products and technology platform. The role is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, or Calgary, Alberta, and is hybrid: primarily in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home. The Staff Software Engineer works across architecture, platform engineering, and team development. This technical leader sets direction for how products are built, scaled, and evolved; designs resilient systems that teams can extend and operate; and helps engineers improve through hands-on work, mentorship, and influence. The position calls for leadership in frontend and backend design, cross-service contracts, platform initiatives, and AI-enabled engineering practices. LodgeLink’s cloud stack includes ReactJS, Golang, gRPC, Tailwind, Shadcn, Docker, Kafka, and PostgreSQL. LodgeLink describes its vision as becoming the ecosystem for workforce travel and emphasizes collaboration, agility, dependability, inventiveness, and audacity. It is part of Black Diamond Group, a publicly traded company with operations in Canada, the United States, and Australia.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of recent experience with modern frontend technologies built with ReactJS.
  • At least 15 years of progressive software development lifecycle experience, demonstrating growth from individual execution to architecture ownership and technical leadership.
  • At least 15 years of experience with SDLC, SOLID principles, data/behavior/test-driven development, domain-driven design, clean code, and clean architecture.
  • At least 15 years of applying cloud development patterns and best practices across multiple architectures and industries.
  • Strong backend competency in Golang, gRPC, microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures, including the ability to critically design and evaluate backend services and go deep into implementation when needed.
  • At least 5 years focused on an API-first approach, with expertise in loosely coupled systems and domain-driven design.
  • Experience advocating for and effectively managing and planning technical debt.
  • Commitment to quality code and experience with multiple testing approaches.
  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong software engineering foundations and ability to learn technologies quickly; the posting notes that candidates need not know every listed technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Golang, gRPC, microservices, and micro-frontends beyond the core ReactJS experience.
  • Experience with LodgeLink’s cloud stack technologies: ReactJS, Golang, gRPC, Tailwind, Shadcn, Docker, Kafka, and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the software engineering team through hands-on work, mentoring, and influence; act as a force multiplier and role model.
  • Lead full-stack architecture decisions, including component design, state management, microservice contracts, API design, and cross-system integration patterns.
  • Define and evolve frontend architecture, including component systems, rendering strategies, performance at scale, design system governance, and micro-frontend approaches where applicable.
  • Drive platform engineering initiatives such as shared tooling, developer experience improvements, CI/CD pipeline design, observability layers, and internal developer platforms.
  • Integrate AI-augmented practices into the software development lifecycle, including prompt engineering workflows, AI-assisted code review, generative scaffolding, LLM-powered developer tooling, and AI-native testing patterns.
  • Help the team develop fluency in building with and alongside AI tools.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing strategy, API design, observability, and security; build tools and templates that make these practices easy for developers.
  • Scale products to be responsive and attractive and to delight users.
