About The Position

THIS POSITION IS AN INTERNSHIP FOR CURRENT UNDERGRAD STUDENTS ONLY - PREFERENCE GIVEN TO HOSPITALITY MAJORS OR RELATED FIELDS OF STUDY. This internship runs from Late May 2027 to August 2027. JOB SUMMARY INTERNSHIP FOR CURRENT UNDERGRADUATES ONLY! Guests at Margaritaville Lake Resort come to experience the special vibes that only the Margaritaville brand can provide! We are looking for bright, confident and outgoing individuals to join the Front Desk team this summer to be part of the warmest welcome our resort can offer and to CREATE AND DELIVER FUN AND ESCAPISM for our guests. Experience is not required - we will train you on the job. To work on the Front Desk, you must be upbeat, clear thinking, a confident communicator with excellent English language skills. You must be at least 18 years of age and possess an outgoing and positive attitude as well as a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment. There are opportunities for those who want to learn what goes on behind the scenes too. Spend time on the PBX Operator seat taking and directing calls, greet our guests at the door with a warm welcome and assist them with directions, luggage and information, talk to or shadow the Managers, learn about forecasting and scheduling and even shadow the Night Auditor. The possibilities are up to you! You must be able to stand for long periods of time, be an excellent communicator in English, present a confident and friendly personality and be able to remain calm under pressure. We'll take care of the rest!

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be an upbeat, clear thinking, confident communicator with excellent English language skills.
  • Must possess an outgoing and positive attitude as well as a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrate great attention to detail as well as an understanding of genuine hospitality
  • Scrupulously follow all Driftwood and Margaritaville Lake Resort policies and procedures.
  • Be organized and able to prioritize workload; able to multi-task for the benefit of quality services
  • Have superb communication skills; oral and written, ability to handle difficult people.
  • Take pride in a job well done.
  • Be conscientious of and preserve hotel personnel and guest security, property and privacy at all times
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the English language to be able to effectively communicate with guests, associates and vendors.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have good computer skills
  • Be willing to adhere to the dress code as outlined in the Driftwood Hospitality Associate Handbook
  • Writing, typing, walking, bending, stretching, repetitive motions and standing for long periods sometimes in excess of 8 hours with only a half hour lunch break.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds.
  • Hearing; communication with guests and staff, audible alarm systems.
  • Specific vision abilities required include visual acuity; near/distance vision and the ability to see color

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to Hospitality Majors or related fields of study.
  • Typing 40 words per minute or more preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to check guests in and out of the hotel promptly, efficiently and courteously following the procedures outlined in the Front Desk Handbook.
  • Issue room keys in accordance with security practices.
  • Accurately post room charges.
  • Collect payment and make change, run daily end of shift report and maintain accurate cash handling.
  • Learn to handle multiple incoming telephone lines with appropriate greeting and routes them to the appropriate extensions.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
  • Rotation on Guest Services desk, PBX (operator) and Night Audit
  • Understand the type of guest queries, complaints and requests associated with a busy full-service resort and learn to respond quickly and professionally
