About The Position

Student Assistants will work with staff to assist in the following areas: Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation. The Front Desk Student Assistant will serve as the primary point of contact for students and various campus and community individuals, requiring active problem-solving, effective interpersonal skills, and excellent customer service. This role involves calling and following up with campus staff regarding various inquiries. The customer service student assistant will perform a range of duties including answering phone calls, responding to inquiries from students, families, faculty, and employers, and confirming appointments, meetings, and events. They will also be responsible for welcoming and assisting students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Additionally, the assistant will monitor inventory for department promotional items, printed publications, and office supplies, and collaborate with staff to initiate reordering as needed. They will assemble promotional items for outreach staff and manage timely responses to office correspondence, efficiently fulfilling requests in accordance with organizational standards. The role includes checking staff availability and scheduled appointments, performing clerical duties such as filing, copying, organizing paperwork, and managing calendars. The assistant will support Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation staff members on various projects and assist with department events. Other duties may include restocking items (which may involve carrying and lifting), cleaning, and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities
