About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Front Desk Specialist in Boca Raton, FL. The Financial Affairs Division – Controller’s Office plays a vital role in delivering high-quality Tuition and Billing services that directly support the student experience. This position serves as a key point of contact for student accounts, assisting with tuition, fees, payments, and billing inquiries while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customer service. The role supports daily operations by analyzing accounts, resolving issues, and collaborating with campus partners to deliver timely, effective service. Requirements

  • A high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience.
  • Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong emphasis on Excel (sorting, filtering, and basic data analysis).
  • Experience in a university or higher education environment, preferably in student accounts, financial aid, or registrar functions.
  • Working knowledge of FERPA and other applicable student privacy regulations.
  • Ability to de-escalate concerns and clearly explain complex tuition, billing, and account-related processes in a supportive manner.
  • Demonstrates initiative with a continuous improvement mindset; ability to identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service–oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as one of the Tuition & Billing Services Specialists.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding, but not limited to, bill payment, tuition & related charges, Florida Prepaid inquiries, and collection of accounts with a goal of 100% customer satisfaction.
  • General office duties to support Tuition & Billing services, including, but not limited to, data entry, electronic filing, and scanning.
  • Participates in presentations for orientations, special trainings, and campus events.
  • Responds to high-volume customer/student calls, emails, and assists customers/students face-to-face in the front office as needed.
  • Processes customer/student transactions and responds to inquiries, ensuring a clear understanding of student accounts, deadlines, and related activity in a timely, accurate, and responsive manner.
  • Provides the supervisor with error corrections or discrepancies as necessary.
  • Participates in ongoing training to improve skills and productivity.
  • Assists with other ad hoc projects and job-related duties as assigned by leadership.
