About The Position

Patient Services Representative (Front Desk) at Arrowhead Orthopaedics. The goal is to provide the finest Orthopaedic care possible, requiring all office staff and providers to be sensitive and responsive to patients’ needs and preferences. This position requires availability of forty hours per week, with flexibility in schedule to provide efficient service. The employee will work no more than five days per week. A working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn necessary software programs are essential. The hours, pay scale, and benefits will be defined as agreed upon. The Patient Services Representative (Front Desk) is responsible for scheduling and monitoring assigned physicians’ schedules to ensure they are fully booked while adhering to the AO’s 20-minute wait time policy. Work is primarily performed in the Clinic and involves high-volume, high-quality duties. The employee will handle confidential patient files with the highest degree of privacy, discretion, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalence.
  • The ability to type 40 words per minute.
  • Skill in operating a computer and scanner, as well as software programs including Microsoft Outlook.
  • Telephone etiquette, superior customer service, and professional communication skills are required.
  • Must be flexible and able to multitask in a stressful setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Strong Leadership Capabilities
  • Requires sitting and walking, with daily occasional stooping, reaching, and bending.
  • Occasional lifting up to thirty pounds.
  • Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone and personal communication.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboards and other office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Check in patients.
  • Reschedule patients if necessary.
  • Verify patients insurance by scanning proper documentation.
  • Explain to patients our forms.
  • Answer calls.
  • Monitor waiting time.
  • Call patients that requires hand carrying X-rays.
  • Collect co-pays.
  • Keep track of waiting time.
  • Direct patients to proper location such as imaging center, hand center, PT and other offices when necessary.
  • Route documents faxed to us and from us.
  • Aid patients with special needs such as wheelchairs and other.
  • Basic clerical activities.
  • Comply with all HIPPA laws and regulations.
