About The Position

The Front Desk Representative is often the first and last impression of Michigan Orthopaedic Surgeons. This role is essential to delivering an exceptional patient experience by welcoming patients, completing accurate registration, verifying insurance and demographic information, collecting patient payments, coordinating follow-up appointments, and supporting efficient clinic operations. Success in this role requires exceptional customer service, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while ensuring patients receive a seamless experience from check-in through check-out.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and create a positive, professional first impression.
  • Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, emergency contact, and registration information.
  • Ensure all required forms and documentation are completed and accurately entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Verify insurance information to support accurate registration, billing, and reimbursement.
  • Collect copays, outstanding balances, and other patient payments.
  • Identify and resolve registration or insurance discrepancies to minimize delays and billing issues.
  • Complete the patient check-out process efficiently and accurately.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments according to provider protocols and recommendations.
  • Provide patients with visit documentation, instructions, and other applicable correspondence.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors throughout their visit.
  • Place outbound calls to patients regarding appointments, registration, insurance, or other clinic-related needs.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and fellow team members to support efficient clinic operations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional duties that support clinic and departmental operations.
